A "Peek" UTC system, was chosen by the Highways Agency via its system maintenance contractors Carillion, with supervising engineers MouchelParkman. The project required a very tight installation timescale. The timely delivery of the system, allowed the new Scoot UTC system to be configured, in order to coordinate existing traffic signals at 15 signalised intersections over existing communications infrastructure within a 20 week contract period. photo of Junction

With the implementation of Dial-up UTC communicating between SCOOT and the Peek I-OUT has enabled Mouchel to commission some sites more effectively than before, hence alleviating some troublesome traffic black-spots.

It is the expectation of the Highways Agency to be able to interact between existing NMCS2 Motorways systems and Urban UTC/SCOOT systems in the future, by utilising common UTMC type solutions. This integration of Urban and Inter-urban systems will provide a much greater flexibility and a more comprehensive traffic management solution.
